When God is Silent: Finding Strength in the Waiting

There’s nothing more disconcerting than crying out to God and hearing nothing in return. I’ve been there pleading for answers, for direction, for a sign that He was still present. When I was losing everything, I’d worked for, when I was walking into a federal prison, when I was grieving alone—I begged God to speak. But all I got in return was silence.

I doubted everything at first. *Had I done something wrong? Was He punishing me? Had He abandoned me? * But the more time passed, the more I learned something life-changing—God’s silence does not mean He’s absent.

How to Find Strength When God is Silent:

  1. Trust That God is Still Working

Just because you can’t hear Him doesn’t mean He’s not working. Some of God’s greatest work is done in the silence, behind the scenes. The waiting season isn’t wasted, it’s getting ready for what’s next.

  1. Strengthen Your Faith, Not Your Fear

When God is silent, the enemy is loud. Doubt will try to creep in, telling you that God isn’t listening. **Silence is not rejection—it’s an invitation to trust God deeper.

  1. Keep Praying, Even When You Don’t Feel Anything

God’s silence doesn’t mean stop praying. **Keep seeking, keep believing, and keep holding on. Faith isn’t about what we feel, it’s about what we know.

  1. Look Back at God’s Faithfulness

Remember all the ways God has appeared in the past. If He was faithful then, He will be faithful now.

If you’re waiting season, wait. **God is still there. And when the time is right, His voice will ring out above the silence in ways you never dreamed. Hold on to faith He is not finished with you yet.
